ABOUT ME - chrisdaviscina

I look back on my career and realize I've really had a great life!  As a medical/political editor, I got to meet Walter Cronkite, interview George W. Bush (as Texas governor), Dr. Susan Love (writer of Doctor Susan Love's Breast Book), Willem Kolff, M.D. (Father of Artificial Organs) and many others.

For 8 years I was in charge of the photo library at Scenic Hudson, an environmental non-profit that works to provide parks to the public, from New York to Albany rather than letting those beautiful properties get developed. I had access to some of the finest photographers and images, including transparencies of original Hudson River School of Art paintings.

As a writer, editor,  graphic artist and photographer,  in 2006 I began working at a daily newspaper, The Poughkeepsie Journal, where I put together themed magazines (Tourism, Homes, Bridal, Back to School...) I had a wonderfully encouraging boss and she chose my images to be covers for many of those magazines.

Today I still enjoy finding the best angle to show the beauty of a person or a new way of looking at a scene. I embrace the opportunity to share – even if only for a moment – an image that shows someone what I see and feel while photographing, especially with others who may not otherwise get to experience it firsthand. I've been fortunate to travel and I’ve been blessed with wonderful mentors who have helped me grow as a photographic artist.

My most important job at the moment is as Grandma to two boys and two girls and as a mother and wife.
